Stone Temple Pilots in Abbotsford—Better Late Than Never?
Stone Temple Pilots played the AESC in Abbotsford, BC last night.
As a teenager for the better part of the ’90s, they were one of my favourite bands, particularly during my formative years (and their best years – Core, Purple, Tiny Stories). Being a full-time student at the university in Abbotsford, I was a little disheartened to know that one of my childhood favourites were playing a show in my backyard and I wouldn’t be there.
Fortunately, I wasn’t there.
After Crash Kings opened the show at the AESC, the scandal-riddled Scott Weiland and band took just shy of 2 HOURS to come onstage. And when they did—judging by the video clip above—it wasn’t really worth the wait. Of course, that’s all in the eye of the beholder but it sounds pretty sad to me. I’m just glad I didn’t splurge on that show. Instead I get to go with my lovely wife to see one of our favourites, Tegan & Sara, at the Vogue Theatre (?) on Sunday.
Yep, I’d rather see twin sisters sing about love and heartbreak on acoustic guitars than washed up rock stars way past their prime play disappointing versions of their once polarizing tunes.
Pretty sure the ladies will show up on time, too.
O, Stone Temple Pilots, call it a career already. For everyone’s sake.

I am a huge fan, and did attend the show. It was not at all worth the 2 hr wait. When they finally did come on Scott laughed it off and gave a discustingly insincier appology. The show sounded awful…..when you could even hear him that is. I wish they didn’t show up, i would have a better story to tell. After thar night i will never go see another STP show again.
Complete Shit. Crash kings rocked the house with some great tunes. Would have paid the 55 dollars to see them. This show was pathetic waste of time. And clearly scott wailand had inhaled a paintball because jesus he was fucked.
Stp was late thats unacceptable, but Scott and the boys put on a wicked show. The sound was fine. I think you should call it a career and open up your ears.

That would have been so disappointing. I, like you, grew up loving STP. What a let down that would have been. I’m glad I can remember them in their prime and not from that painful performance.
